FBI Issues Warning Over App Scam
The FBI has issued a warning that cybercriminals and fraudsters are targeting mobile banking apps with malware as part of their efforts to steal user credentials and conduct account takeover attacks. The FBI advises people not to click on unsolicited text messages, email links, pop-ups, and not to call or respond to any number in them. The US government never requests Americans to send funds through wire transfers to foreign accounts or through cryptocurrency or gift cards. People should not download any software because it is meant to allow scammers to control their devices.
As a reminder, HNCU will never ask anyone to share their personal confidential information like account numbers, PINs, social security numbers, credit or debit card numbers, passwords, or log-in credentials via text, email, phone, or social media.
If you ever feel that you have been a victim of a scam or fraud, please call our main number at 303.451.1146.
